2008 RACE RESULTS

On Sunday, Sept. 28, Matt competed in the Super Bowl of Late Model Stock racing, the  “Bailey’s 300” at Martinsville Speedway in Virginia. Out of 117 cars, #81, Matt DiBenedetto,  qualified 11th. He battled his way to the 6th position going into the mandatory yellow at lap 100. At this point, a pill was drawn for inversion which put him on the pole for the 2nd half of the race. His motor was running hot and didn’t have quite the horsepower he was hoping and fell back a bit. With 25 laps to go, the sky opened up with showers! They dried the track and Matt took the green in the 5th position. He quickly moved to 3rd and felt that his car got much better after the rain and cooler temperatures. He was all over the 2nd place car. Coming out of turn 4 going to the checkered, the 4th place car picked up the back of Matt’s car, spinning him. Matt did a complete circle, straightened out the car, stomped the gas, and croish!ssed the finish line in the 7th position without a scratch on the car!! It was one exciting finish!  Click Here to see some crashes at the Bailey's 300. Towards the end, you will see Matt in the #81 get spun, recover, and cross the checkered in 7th.

Many thanks to Jamie Yelton for putting Matt in his car and to Greg Marlowe for Crew Chiefing  the Martinsville "Bailey's 300" for Matt! It was a great experience!

Matt took on the challenge of Bristol Motor Speedway on Saturday, May 17. Matt qualified 2nd with a 15.856 lap. 44 cars competed for 32 spots.

Matt led the first 40 laps. The 2nd place car got by Matt. Matt saved his tires while still staying close to the leader. On a restart with about 25 laps to go, Matt went to the high side and never lifted to retake the lead.  He never looked back and brought the #44 to Victory Circle!!!  Matt wants to thank Mitch, Randy, Russell, J.P. and all the great guys on the crew for all their hard work and dedication!
